Sparse, honest, no pretension, beautiful.
These are all descriptions of Taylor Kirk’s swampy blues group known as Timber Timbre. This is music at its most heartfelt.
Kirk’s voice on the self titledĀ albumĀ recalls Antony of Antony & The Johnsons, only with less glam and vibrato. The blend of his quivering voice with the ragged edges of the group’s folk and blues roots is a perfect complement.
For a taste, you can listen to the embedded Lala player on the right containing selected songs from their latest album, or you can head to their Myspace (I recommend “Demon Host” as a starting point).
What do you think?

i’m a fan for sure. arts & crafts actually has a fairly good selection of singer/songwriters.
